Block Kids 2013 was a tremendous success with 150 participants from all over the Wichita area. Our over-all 2013, winner, Nathan Huie came from the Goddard school district. Block Kids introduces children to the Construction Industry in hopes of creating an awareness of an promoting an interest in careers in the many facets of the construction industry. Children are encouraged to use their imaginations to build a project related to the industry, i.e. houses, building, bridges, roads, airports or construction equipment.
Judges from a variety of construction related industries including engineers, architects, equipment operators, project managers, plumbers, electricians and others who provide service to the industry volunteer their time for this fun event.
A dedicated group of volunteers assemble every year lead by our equally dedicated members.
Also as part of this fun there is even a trade show staffed by people form the construction industry offering children the opportunity to learn construction skills including use of technology and computer aided design.
A grand time was had by all and we look forward to this weekend’s Block Kids 2014.
